I have dealt in thousands of Digital Signatures and EToken (32K USB Pro). The end-users sometimes forgets the password and blocks the eToken. Most of the eTokens were unblocked by me by initializing it. But some of the eTokens I was unable to unblock/initialize/Format. It say "Unable to change life cycle. (Please enter the current password)". But since the password has been forgotten -unblocking becomes impossible by me. Is there some way out, Please help. See the attached .pdf file.
It ask for current password only when its FIPS mode is on. so check the status of FIPS mode, is it 'Off' or 'On' in the properties of eToken. If FIPS mode is 'On' and you do not remember current password in that case you can not unblock/initialize/Format etoken.
